Angry Birds and Skulls

Sorry this one will just not flip. Clark requested this one. He wanted something spooky. How could I tell him no? Ok, I tell him no a lot. This was something easy though. So I dug out my Halloween cookie cutters and came up with a skull. Clark has strawberries, a carrot (he loves them that way), grapes, a cheese stick, and a yogurt tube.

The Elder has maple chicken, left over homemade cheese potatoes, KitKat bars, and corn.

Tyke wanted Angry Birds again. So I made him birds with my larger cutter and some piggies with the cookie stamps. He also has a broken up cheese stick, grapes, carrots, and strawberries. The tube on top is full of yogurt.

Pasta and an Octopus

I had some leftover sausage from making lunches for The Elder and Julie. They had already ate it 2 days this week so I figured I would give it to the minions for lunch. The top meal was what the boys had. The only difference between theirs and The Colonel's lunch was that her fruit was cut up smaller. She does just fine with sausage, so I had no left it whole.

Lunch in our Easy Lunchboxes today! We have carrot sticks (slightly steamed for Colonel Sanders), strawberries, grapes, cheese cubes, tri colored pasta, and a turkey sausage octopus with whole wheat spaghetti legs.

The Colonel Decided to eat the legs off first.

So did Pork. The octopus is always a huge hit around here!

Look at that! Clark ate the legs off too!

Tyke was not very happy with me. First I would not allow him to watch tv, then I made him take his acid meds, then I forced him to eat at the table. *gasps* I know, I am a mean mama.

Sausage worm

I have a little worm made out of organic nitrate free hot dog slices sitting on a bed of cheese. Under it I have nitrate free turkey. On the top I have strawberries, an organic cereal, and carrot slices. The face was made with nori.

This is the Colonel's lunch. She too has a hot dog worm, turkey, cheese sliced into little pieces, strawberries, and some organic and GMO free cereal.

Sourdough star sandwich

I decided I would make some sourdough bread. This gave me the chance to use my star bread pan. I think it turned out pretty well. I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on sourdough bread, cottage cheese, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries.

I made Colonel Sanders the same thing, only I made sure to cut her bread as thin as I could. I also have to admit that I regretted giving her cottage cheese and allowing her to feed herself.

Rocket ships, UFO's and Hello Kitty

I decided to use my little ham & cheese cutters for lunch today. I used my UFO, Rocket Ship, and Tree cutters for the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  For the sides I have cheese, a single prune (I wanted them to try it) and some dehydrated strawberries, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds.

The Colonel has a similar lunch. She has Hello Kitty sandwiches and baby trees. I also gave her some cheese pieces, a cut up prune, dehydrates strawberries, and some sunflower seeds.

Both lunches were put in my Easy Lunchboxes

Sausage Octopus

Today we have a cheese and butter baked potato and octopus sausage laying on a bed of spinach. I added a few halves of grape tomatoes for color. Above that is a turtle for desert and some strawberries.

The Crab and the Chicks.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Easy Lunchboxes? I know I do not use them a lot for the minions, but I use them 5-6 days a week for The Elder. Easy Lunchboxes came out with some new colors! Can you feel my excitement? I have 12 of the normal ones right now. So in theory I should be fine. "Just to be safe" I ordered 2 packages (8 boxes) of their "Brights". :-D :-D :-D I told myself that I would never use faces on here, but I am to excited not to.

Tyke informed me today that he did not want a "cut" sandwich. So I left his whole and made him a cheese crab on top of his peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The eyes are candy eyes. The crab shaped cutter I used was actually in the "dollar" section of Target. It was part of a play-dough tool set. I took out any piece that could be used for a sandwich cutter and gave the minions the rest for their clay. The minions also have cheese, blackberries, and strawberries for lunch.

Pork wanted me to make him cute sandwiches, so I used a cookie cutter to cut him out 3 chicks. I used cheese to give them beaks and candy eyes. Above them I used another play-dough cutter to make him a duck.

Colonel Sanders had her own cute lunch. Here she has 3 Hello Kitty sandwiches. I used a Hello Kitty cookie cutter that had one of the press on faces. This makes the bread nice and flat. I also used left over cheese scraps (from the crab and duck) for her cheese. I cut the strawberries into smaller pieces for her.

Oh look! Aunt Julie is overseeing lunch today! I have class today. So while the minions eat lunch, I make sure everything is in my school bag, take a shower, and then drive Tyke to school. From there I go right to school myself.

Leftover Chicken Tenders

The Elder loves my fried chicken. I try to keep him happy and make some form of it once a week or so. This time I went way overboard. I had some chicken that sat in the fridge almost to long. It was cook the breasts or toss them. So I sliced them all up into tenders and fried them up. Needless to say, we not only had it for dinner, but we will be eating it for the next 2 lunches.

In the main compartment of The Elder's Easy Lunch Box we have homemade stuffing made out of the left over pieces from the Domo lunch. I added onion, carrots, mushroom, and some beef stock. On top of that sits my chicken tenders. I was a little to tired and not feeling to creative. The first picks I found were the umbrella ones. So I grabbed the grape tomatoes and added those to the picks. What can I use for rain? The only colorful item I can find is matchstick carrots.

To the left we have a mini apple cranberry pie. Below that we have great peas. Mmm... Peas.

Are you surprised to see this bento box? I know, long time no see! We will start with the blue bottom tier. The boys have a mini apple cranberry pie, strawberries, and a spaghetti, egg, and cheese cupcake. I know that sounds odd, but it is really yummy! The spaghetti was a leftover from 2 days prior.

The top tier has some of our leftover fried chicken tenders and some red seedless grapes.
Colonel Sanders had her own bento. I took all the crisp pieces and top off the spaghetti and egg cupcake. I also gave her finely diced strawberries, finely diced chicken tender, and baby peas.

She was very happy to be given a good item larger than the small pieces she is use to. Colonel Sanders seems to think she can eat anything . She started to yell at us and refuse her puree food because she wanted something more. The Colonel wanted little chunks. So in efforts to please her, I feed her what we eat and just make sure that it is soft enough for me to smash easily between my fingers. The eggs keep the spaghetti very soft. Colonel Sanders very happily ate the spaghetti cupcake first.

WE ARE AT #99!!! Do you know what that means? Stay tuned for tomorrow!

Day 1 in Week of Butterflies

This week Clark's class is going to Meijer Gardens for the butterfly exhibit. The other minions and I will be meeting his class there. I decided to get everyone excited for our trip and make a week of butterflies!

Today's lunch is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I cut it out using a sandwich cutter I found at Walmart for $2. Thin cut celery and carrots help to decorate the butterfly. Surrounding the butterfly are carrots and strawberries. At the top of the butterfly is a Samoa cookie cut in half (Girl Scout Cookie).

Onigiri lunch

I love rice. The minions, not so much. I have tried coloring it, cute rice molds, sweeter filling, fried rice of various types and so on. I once even made Rice a Roni and molded it! Still no luck. Apparently they believe that rice has no place in their bento boxes. Yet if I serve fried rice at dinner, most of the time they will eat it. Little ones are strange.

Today's lunch is hand formed onigiri (rice ball) with a filling of 5 spice pork and mushrooms. In between the two pieces I have raw broccoli. One of the onigiri has strawberry ears. Yes, the top fit on over the ears!

The bottom level consists of curried eggs with celery, grapes, and strawberries.

Easter Bento

The eggs and the bunny are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I have 2 layers of processed cheese on the top half of the egg. At the bottom of the egg is pickled bologna. Also there are strawberries and grape tomatoes. Behind the rabbit there are some baby carrot coins. The rabbit is sitting on a nest of shredded cheese.

I told the boys that the bunny was hiding his secret stash of yummy eggs. So they had better not eat all of his stash or he will cry. They ate every little carrot round! I was surprised.

D is for Dolphin

I know it has been a bit. I am sorry. I have had some personal problems recently.

Anyway, I chose to use the longer bento today because of the dolphin. I found a new bread cutter in the store with 2 dolphins and a heart in the center.

On the top I have sliced carrots, strawberries, and Colby cheese. To the right of that is pasta salad. Hidden from view there are some cucumber bits, black olives, and tomato mixed in with the tri colored pasta and Italian dressing. This was a bigger hit than I thought it would be. The number 15 is made out of a whole wheat tortilla and colored with food safe markers.

On the bottom is some folded deli turkey, a peanut butter dolphin and heart, and some baby dill pickles. The D is also cut out of a tortilla.

Green Eggs and Ham

Packed

The minions insisted they needed a "box breakfast" this morning. I knew I was not going to be happy with this box from when I realized I did not have enough matching smaller boxes. Clark is very insistent that all of the minions have the same size. He has ASD, so we just kinda go with the flow.

So today we are using our Gerber boxes.  I made some green crepes and used a cookie cutter for the egg shapes. The top egg is about 8 layers alternating between chocolate cream cheese and peanut butter as filling between crepes. I got the idea for the Dr Seuss hat from Bent On Better Lunches. She used apples and cheese. I had no apples so I used strawberries and a cheese stick.  There is a cookie, several ham slices, and a small stack of crepe sheets with yellow cheese as the egg yolk.

To the left are some cheese sticks, strawberries, and kiwi slices. Below that is a Dannon Crunchers.
