First lunches of November

Colonel Sanders has a single cookie, string cheese, pb&j cut with our FunBites cutter , raspberries, leftover pork, and grapes.

Tyke has an airplane sandwich, cheese stick, raspberries, fruit strips, a cookie, and grapes.

Ahh yes, Clark. Clark is obsessed with World of Goo. To bad mama is lazy. Good news is, he knew what I lazily made for him. I have a "World of Goo" sandwich made with fruit strips and grapes cut in half.

The Elder was special enough to receive leftovers again. Fried pork (no, not my child), baked potatoes with butter, sour cream (separate container), and cheese. I also have green beans (frozen at this point still) and several cookies for his enjoyment.

Halloween lunch

Not pictured: an apple
Today's lunch consists of skull left over pizza (2 of them), cheese stick ghosts (1 1/2 sticks), pretzels, organic fruit strips, a chocolate pumpkin, and an apple (not pictured). I used nori on the cheese to make faces and cheese cut outs for the skull.

I have to admit that most lunches have been quick cookie cutter/sandwich cutter lunches with little effort or time put into them. For the most part, I manage to make 2 kids lunches and an adult lunch in 5 minutes.

See Our Life for a recent update.

Lunch Punches came!

Please forgive me. I know my pictures are not the greatest. My camera died in the spring so I get my have been using my phone. Sometimes I cannot get my computer to flip the pictures and I fail at any photo editing.

Once again, this lunch was made in under 15 minutes. Mainly because The Elder has leftovers as part of his lunch and I make the sandwiches while the meat for The Elder cooks. I think this lunch was about 13 minutes. Yes, I am out of practice. I am sure as the year goes on I will get faster.

*Not pictured was a mini candy bar in each of the minion lunches that separates the cucumber and the sandwich.

Lunch Punches came!!! So I opted to try them out.

Tyke has a car sandwich with a cheese road, tires, and windshield. Sadly I only had cheddar cheese. I need to keep some mozzarella cheese in the fridge. He also has some cucumber slices, a mini chocolate bar (not pictured) and canned mandarin oranges and pineapple per request.

Clark loves trains. I wish I could find my organic powder food coloring. I could have some quick and lazy fun with it. Clark has a sandwich with cheese window, that piece that moves the wheels (I am so technical), and lazy person train track. Sides are the same as Tyke.

Before I go on to The Elder, today's containers only cost me $3 for the minions. In the Target dollar bin I picked up 2 sandwich boxes for $1 each and the monster containers came 2 for $1.

I have given up trying to make this picture flip. The Elder was given frozen green beans, leftover cheese potatoes, and medium rare steak with mushrooms and onions. I cooked the steak medium rare because by the time he warms it up, it will be medium. Just the way he likes it.

Dinosaurs and Angry Birds

The Elder shall be first. Poor man has leftovers from Wednesday. On a bed of fresh spinach he has 2 leftover cupcake lasagna. I added a little more crushed tomatoes and some cheese to the top. He also has a piece of pound cake and 2 little chocolate bars.

Clark requested Angry Birds this time. So I made him 2 large Angry Birds and a small one. All this sits on a bed of spinach. Yes, everyone has spinach today. Clark is the only one who is known to eat it raw. He likes to "eat leaves like dinosaurs". He also has a cheese stick. On top there is pineapple, carrots, and orange pepper.

Tyke wanted dinosaurs. He is actually why I added the spinach. I felt it went with the sandwiches. As always, he has the same side items as Clark. It just makes life easier. He is not a fan of carrots, but I still serve them. One day he may try them and like them.

Angry Birds and Skulls

Sorry this one will just not flip. Clark requested this one. He wanted something spooky. How could I tell him no? Ok, I tell him no a lot. This was something easy though. So I dug out my Halloween cookie cutters and came up with a skull. Clark has strawberries, a carrot (he loves them that way), grapes, a cheese stick, and a yogurt tube.

The Elder has maple chicken, left over homemade cheese potatoes, KitKat bars, and corn.

Tyke wanted Angry Birds again. So I made him birds with my larger cutter and some piggies with the cookie stamps. He also has a broken up cheese stick, grapes, carrots, and strawberries. The tube on top is full of yogurt.

First Day of School

I managed these 3 lunches in 15 minutes. I have to admit, it was helpful that The Elder's was partly leftovers.

Tyke requested Angry Birds. In my ELB I have Angry Birds sandwiches used making a cookie stamp found on Ebay. Separating the sandwiches are organic fruit strips. Also I added grapes, strawberry, carrots, some string cheese and a small PB cup for desert.

Clark wanted World of Goo... Ok then. I admit I am pretty lazy and had no intention of putting faces made out of nori on the grapes. Maybe I should invest in a food marker again. The background is made of sandwiches. The little Goo blobs are grapes cut in half, and I used organic fruit strips to make the little connections. Luckily he knew exactly what it was meant to be. Clark also has grapes, strawberry, carrots (he needs a crunch with every meal for sensory), string cheese, and a pb cup.

Poor Elder had a leftover potato from dinner and some corn (frozen). I had no clue on meat and had nothing left over. I had some hamburger thawed and little imagination. So I made a thin patty, put cheese on half and folded it over. I seasoned it, put it in a fry pan, added fresh mushrooms, and made my sandwiches for the boys while it cooked.  The Elder loved it. Yeah! It just doesn't look pretty.

First trial for the new school year

I decided that I needed to work out the morning routine for school days before school actually started. School starts one week from tomorrow, September 3rd. To hear more about our first trial run, go HERE.

Needless to day lunch did not go very well. I used my FunBites cutter to cut up the sandwich (ham and cheese). The apple rabbit did not turn out to well. The little odd colored things with the sandwich are some organic fruit strips and we have carrots and cucumbers for a vegetable. The yellow in back is a slice of cheese to add some color.

Egg salad sandwich

I apologize for the picture. I cannot figure out what happened to my memory card, so I have been using my phone to take pictures.

For lunch we have pasta salad (tri colored pasta, tomatoes, cucumber, and greek dressing), baby dill pickles, and an egg salad sandwich. I made this the night before, so I toasted the bread. The stamp says "Good Morning". I know it is not morning, but it was that or the "princess" one. I am not thinking they would enjoy that.

Corned beef hash and green beans

I was bored and wanted to see if I could shape corned beef hash. I tried packing an egg mold super tight and it did not work. Next I tried packing it into a cookie cutter. The first one came out pretty well but the second, not so much.

Lunch was corned beef hash, green beans, and I did add a cookie for desert later.

Fish Sandwiches

Today's lunch consists of nitrate free salami and turkey on a food pick, strawberries, cheese, and fish shaped peanut butter sandwiches. I used my fish rice mold to make the sandwiches.
Clark relaxing in my bed while The Colonel takes a rare nap

This week is the last full week of school for Tyke. Next week he has class Tuesday and Thursday. Clark goes for another 2 weeks. I am very excited for them both to be entering kindergarten next year. I met Clark's teacher at the IEP for next year and she seems nice and willing to work as a team with the parents. Yeah!

I hope to be doing better on lunches from now on. We will have several summer trips as well as going to the park. I said I would update on what is going on (why I have been in and out so much) and I have decided to finally share. Please check HERE.

Smile sandwich

Lunch in our awesome Easy Lunchboxes today!

I have some homemade coleslaw, strawberry applesauce, and a toasted turkey sandwich. I used a toast stamp that I found at The Dollar Tree for the design on the toast. I also added a pickle for the minions who like those.

The minions have really been interested in toast recently. They request it for almost every meal and snack. So I figured I would incorporate it into lunch for them.

Tyke's field trip lunch.

I know I said I would explain some things last Friday and I didn't. I am sorry. There have been several things going on in our household and it has taken some time to adjust and readjust. Once things have resettled again I will post something in Silly Minions.

Tyke's class is going on a field trip today and they needed a disposable lunch. Sadly, I have no pictures. Tyke's preschool class does not allow siblings on 98% of the field trips (unlike Clark's class). So we are never able to accompany Tyke on any of them.

I opted to use a strawberry container. We have no paper bags and I had no desire to use 3 or 4 plastic bags anyway. I did line the bottom with some plastic wrap. I know melon sometimes sweats a bit.

I then added my semi frozen yogurt tube. These are considered a huge treat in our house. Sometimes I freeze them and give them to the kids as popsicles in the summer. I have to be careful with dairy and warm days though. Tyke has acid reflux and that makes his belly a little picky.

Next I added the barn, chick, and cow sandwiches. Hmm.... This is not as full as I like it. I know he may not eat all of this, but I really do not like things moving about in his container.

So I added some cheese and a desert item (left over from his school birthday treat),

Sandwiches back one.... and that still is not quite doing it for me. I know I waste food... Then again, he could be having a day where he is super hungry. Those happen. I have seen him eat 3 whole sandwiches plus other lunch items in one sitting.

Instead of a water bottle I decide to give him one of The Elder's drinks. :-) It fits perfect in there. Shh... The Elder never has to know....

Repack the cheese and sandwiches and.... PERFECT!

The top of the container.

I am not mean enough to send an ugly looking top. So I printed up a picture that goes with his lunch. The farm has nothing to do with his field trip. The only reason the farm was picked was because that was the first set of cookie cutters my hands landed on.

I used 2 paper strips to cover up his name... because I could.

Picture from the side... notice nothing moves..

The other side. Good! Everything is secure!!!!

Here is Tyke holding his lunch. Aww, he's so handsome!

Ribs

Lunch today consists of leftover BBQ ribs (cooked low and slow on the grill!), coleslaw, and 2 Girl Souut cookies.

I was trying to make it look like a fun lunch to eat so I added the dinosaurs. Then I decided it needed some more color so I added the skeleton top.

Chicken Kabob Leftover

You know dinner was great when it is requested that some be saved for lunch the next day. We actually had problems keeping the minions away from the chicken.

Lunch consists of a grilled chicken kabob (stick taken out), pan fried potatoes, mixed vegetables, and 2 Girl Scout cookies.

Croissant

Today's lunch is better than they have been. I have a tuna croissant, thin sliced celery sticks, string cheese, crushed pineapple, and 2 Girl Scout cookies. I added a food pick in hoped of making the lunch a bit more interesting.

Another Meh Lunch

Tomorrow or Friday I promise I will post on what is going on over in Silly Minions. Life has been quite hectic and there has been some health concerns.

Lunch was another super quick, Mama just isn't feeling to well lunch. Tyke told me what he wanted for lunch today... I cannot say I am a fan of them eating chips, but I decided the pears would cancel it out. Especially since they normally eat all the pears first.

We have chips, cheese, peanut butter tortillas, and pears.

Tyke told me he wanted to put peanut butter on the tortillas and roll them, so I let him. Sadly I did not think to take pictures.

The Colonel had the same thing only sliced thinner and her tortilla sliced up.

Lunch that is not lunch or in a bento

Tyke wanted a picture taken with his pear.

Then he decided to put on clothes for lunch after all and is now showing off his not so toasted toast.

The Colonel wanted her picture taken. She was saying "eese!"

Clark and Tyke sharing a space at the table. They decided that lunch needed to be at 11:10am instead of 11:35 (after Clark gets on the bus).

I thought I had taken a picture of lunch, but I guess not. We have scrambled eggs with cheese and ham in it, 1/4 of a pear per child, and a slice of not so toasted toast. And yes, that is a swimsuit on the table. Colonel Sanders found it and decided it was a hat.

Then Aunt Agnes came and shared her "breakfast". She had stuffed hash browns.

Clark smiling for the camera and Pork is just going crazy on his chair.

Puzzle

The Colonel and Pork waving to Clark's bus.

I have a puzzle cut peanut butter and jelly sandwich, celery, 1/3 of a pear, and stick of string cheese.

Colonel Sanders got the same thing. The only difference is her celery is cut thinner. Plus she got a little extra cheese. While I took Clark out to the bus, she got into Tykes lunch and ate most of his cheese. So I replaced it and gave her the little nub she left for him.

"eese!"

Tyke took one look at the lid and told me this was the best lunch ever.

Pork put the puzzle together before he ate it.
